SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS
AUTHOR READINGS
FOR CHILDREN: This 50-60 minute presentation with target audience grades K-4 starts with a reading of my children's picture book The Two Trees followed by a grade-level-appropriate Q & A session (~10 minutes) about some of the themes in the book including autism, being a good friend, and bullying. I also welcome questions about being an author. The students then cycle through a number of hands-on activity stations (~40 minutes) that are keyed to student knowledge and/or skills in the area of rocks and minerals, plants, and other science topics. Maximum audience is 100 children; multiple grades welcome. Note: Funding may be available to schools and other non-profit organizations through the Saskatchewan Writers' Guild Author Reading Program.
